The Mountaineers of Appalachian State, a 1-AA football school, beat number 5 Michigan, obviously a big D-1 program, 34-32 blocking a field goal on the last play of the game to hold on.ESPN noted that this is the first time this type of upset has ever happened. Assuming that is correct that makes this the biggest upset ever.
Amusingly enough Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit were talking about the scheduling of these cupcake games.
This type of game says a lot about facing up to challenges, gutting it out and doing all you can to overcome the odds.
We may not always be successful in the challenges we take on but we can go all out with our effort.
